Start of a new Sem


Hi NUH volunteers! Firstly, thanks to all those who came down on Saturday the orientation & training! Although it was our first time initiating it and we know it was far from perfect, we hope you guys enjoyed yourselves and also got to know more about the NUH project, what to expect during your volunteering sessions, our 12th project comm members and your fellow session volunteers! Here's wishing everyone an awesome volunteering journey ahead:) Feel free to approach any comm members anytime if you guys have any questions and/or feedback!
Please be reminded that volunteering session begins this week!!:) It'll take place from week 4- week 13. Please note that there will be no volunteering session on Chinese new year week and recess week. Have a great time volunteering everyone!

Volunteers for Sem 2


Hi everyone! Do check which group you have been assigned to via Yahoogroups or Facebook. The respective VPDs will be contacting you guys soon:D 

For those who weren't allocated any slots, we are really sorry as there was an overwhelming response. Priority had to be given to to those who applied last Sem but weren't allocated any slots. That being said, there are still quite a few places left (in adults, children clinic and psychiatric) so do let us know if you are able to make it for one of those!:)

For our selected volunteers, please be reminded that the orientation and respective training sessions will be                                                                                  held at NUH this Saturday!

10.00am-11.30am: Children ward, clinic and adolescent (For new volunteers in the session)
11.30am-1.00pm: Orientation (For everyone) 
1.00pm-2.00pm: Lunch (For everyone but you'll eat with your respective division & volunteering session group)
2.00pm-3.30pm: Adults and psychiatric (For new volunteers in the session)

The venue for the training session and orientation is NUHS Tower Block T10-02 & T10-03. The respective VPDs will contact each one of you soon! See you guys then! :)

Latest updates


Hi all! Hope this new Sem has been good. Please take note of the following updates. 

1) Christmas celebrations 2012 took place successfully and with the support of several volunteers, we managed to carol and spread some joy of the season to patients at NUH. The comm would like to thank those who came down and participated. We hope it was a memorable one for you all. 

2) The comm has prepared a small token of appreciation for all volunteers who volunteered with us last semester. VPDs will be contacting you guys soon. So please do collect them! :D

3) Application for volunteering slots for this Sem is open! If you are keen to volunteer at NUH this semester, please kindly fill up the online registration form by 24th January 2013 available on the yahoo groups by 24th January 2012, no later than 6PM!

Available slots:
*Children ward: Mon-Sat (except Wed), 10am-12pm 
*Children clinic: Mon to Fri, 10am-12pm 
Adolescent inpatient : Tue-Thurs 330-530pm (Mon & Fri slots will become available only if there is an overwhelming number of sign-ups) 
Adults: Mon to Wed (4-6pm) 
Psychiatric: Mon to Thurs (4-6pm), Sat (2-4pm)

* The number of volunteers will be reduced from 5 to 4 volunteers per session.

4) The outcome of those selected as our volunteers for this Sem should be out by 27 Jan. New volunteers are required to undergo training on 2nd February. While previous volunteers who are volunteering in the same divisions need not undergo training again, those who are volunteering in a new division are required to attend the training session as well. There will be a compulsory orientation session as well, for which all the volunteers of this Sem have to attend.

Tentative schedule:
10-11.30am: children ward/clinic & adolescent training session
11.30-1pm: Orientation (EVERYONE) 
1-2pm: Lunch (everyone will eat with their own group to get to know the other volunteers who will be volunteering together with you this semester) 
2-3.30pm: adults and psychiatric training session 

Again, we would like to stress that the training session and orientation session are COMPULSORY. So please do make yourself available!
